Composite Auditor

Recognised as global leaders in the automotive industry for over 40 years, ASE works with thousands of motor dealers, all the major manufacturers and finance houses around the world to improve dealer, dealer group and dealer network profitability.

We are currently recruiting for a field-based Composite Auditor to provide composite auditing services to franchises, to check the validity of data submissions by their dealer networks. The Composite Auditor will also be responsible for promoting ASE's services to manufacturers and dealers.

Key responsibilities:

  • To conclude whether a composite submission gives a fair and accurate representation of actual trading performance
  • Provide an assessment of month end accounting routines and procedures
  • Conduct an overview of balance sheet controls i.e. debtors and stock
  • Review of operational performance against benchmark KPIs
  • Allocation of activity and expenses on multi franchise Dealers to evaluate the effect other brands have on the overall result
  • Collate a summary of key actions and a 'pass/fail’ indicator
  • Give the dealer an increased credibility of data
  • Provide insight into the performance of each business
  • Encourage engagement of investors to utilise composite information
  • Ensure there is reliability for profit improvement measures
  • Have an understanding of KPI distortions through poor data
  • Work in tandem with operational teams
  • Use your skill set to understand influences that may be affecting operational performance
  • Develop the role in line with business needs
  • Attend training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills
  • Managing internal resources in order to ensure reporting requirements are met
  • Promote all additional ASE, audit, tax and marketing services to manufacturers and dealers

Skills and experience:

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years' experience in the motor trade, ideally within a franchised motor dealership.

  • High level of IT expertise, particularly Excel, and Word to intermediate standard
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients

Mixed Tax Manager

You are likely to be CTA qualified (or equivalent) with a forward thinking attitude and with at least 3 years' experience in corporate tax and personal tax.

The role will be primarily advisory work and you will be responsible for providing direct support to the senior tax manager and tax partner on a wide range of corporate tax and personal tax advisory work including mergers, demergers, share schemes, valuations, aspect enquiries, restructuring, due diligence on acquisitions and disposals, cash and profit extraction, planning with trusts and IHT planning. You may also be required to complete complex personal and tax returns if and when required.

The client base is predominantly OMB's and advisory projects will also include succession and exit planning for the director/shareholders.

There are excellent structured progression opportunities on offer to Senior Tax Manager and beyond in the short to medium term.

The firm is unique in their industry based in South Manchester with a national client base. UK wide travel will be required on a regular basis to deliver the client facing service.

Audit Senior

We now are recruiting for Audit Seniors to join our dedicated team of professionals. ASE offer a competitive package, attractive benefits including a company car and a dedicated training academy for all employees.

In this role you will be providing all ranges of assurance services to small-mid sized businesses, and is not just audit and accounting. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of accounts and financial statements;
  • Assist in maintaining and developing client relationships;
  • Audit of companies principally in the automotive sector;
  • Assist or lead a team to perform a wide variety of assignments, including due-diligence, corporate finance, business reviews, internal control reviews, special projects for manufacturers,
  • Design and implementation of audit plans;
  • Ensure completion of assignments within appropriate budget and time frame;
  • Manage a team of trainees while on assignment;
  • Report to manager and/or partner
  • Responsible for development and mentoring of trainees and staff;
  • Representing the firm at networking events, and identifying opportunities to grow our business.

Audit Workflow & Client Delivery Manager

The role is designed to support the portfolio Audit Managers and Audit Directors to ensure accurate and timely delivery of the statutory audit & assurance assignments to the client base, whilst promoting a training culture to further develop the abilities of the Audit Senior and Audit Associates team by providing office based support.

Additional ad-hoc responsibilities will be driven by project delivery, for example, on network studies, co-ordination of deliverables on large group audit assignments and ensuring consistency of delivery across individual teams within the PS department.

Key qualities

  • Qualified ACCA / ACA or similar.
  • Current CPD compliance.;
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • External Audit experience.
  • Extensive exposure to the preparation of statutory format accounts.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK GAAP including FRS102, consolidated financial statements, LLP SORP etc.
  • Excellent communication skills – used to communicating with people using a variety of methods to a nationwide client base.
  • Knowledge of the Motor Trade industry would be a distinct advantage.
  • Knowledge of preparing accounts from primary records and fundamentals of Corporate Taxation.
  • Understanding of pensions accounts and audits would be desirable.

Key role objectives

  • Ensure consistency of delivery of financial statements
  • Develop and deliver a ASE house style on all client facing deliverables
  • Support field based Managers/Directors to ensure progress on assignments is maintained to agreed delivery schedule.
  • Provide support on network studies to ensure a high quality (and consistency) of delivery
  • Champion the content of the quarterly department meetings
  • “On-the-job” training delivery and technical support to the newly promoted Audit Senior team

  • Deliver (or assist delivery) on technical subjects to promote internal team development
