With the national average profit on turnover in 2009 achieving 2.12% and the top 25% surpassing 5.0%, it is hardly surprising that Suzuki have seen franchise representation enquiries rise to unprecedented levels.
Currently there are 153 Dealers in the Suzuki network following appointments in Stockport, Northampton, Ashford, Eastbourne and most recently in Dorchester, all areas which have been without Suzuki representation for some years.
Commenting on the new openings, Dale Wyatt, General Manager of Dealer Development at Suzuki GB said: "We are pleased to welcome these new Dealers to the Suzuki brand. They join us at an exciting time having just launched the latest SX4 with further product developments planned for later in 2010".
In response, Dominic Avery, Dealer Principal of Lanehouse Suzuki in Dorchester, the most recent appointment, said: "I know Suzuki will add to the continued and sustained success of our family run business and I believe this manufacturer will provide our customers around the Dorchester area with a fresh new look at the car market. This is also a land mark for our company, having traded for 35 years with just one franchise within the Group".
These comments summarise the success of Suzuki over the years by appointing and working with family run businesses or small groups; in other words the "local heroes" where the activity can be directed and managed at a Dealership level and where customer loyalty and satisfaction is the strongest.
This is not to say Suzuki is not a global "player"; of the total global car production of 2,387,533 units in 2009, Suzuki produced 1,479,231vehicles (62%) outside of Japan; a record for the company and a 5.3 per cent increase over 2008. The majority of these vehicles were produced by Maruti Suzuki in India and Magyar Suzuki in Hungary.
